Private Investigator Business Opportunity - How To Find One

The beginning...

What's a private investigator? What does he do? Can I be a private investigator? Is it well paid? Let's take these questions one at a time.

The first one: What's a private investigator? A private investigator is a person that is contracted to find or to discover something that his client wants to know.

The second: What does a PI do? His domain of activities is vast and various from pursuing people to finding out if your employee is stealing from you, or even if your wife (or husband) is cheating on you.

Third question: Can I be a private investigator? Of course you can; if you are at least 18 years old and you have graduated from one of the various private investigator courses. There is only one condition: you must have an immaculate criminal record, absolutely no charges at all.

And the last but not the least: is it well paid? The answer depends on your qualities & abilities. If you are a specialist (meaning if you specialize in one of the various aspects of private investigation) then yes, it can be extremely well paid. But it's like anything, the better you are at your job the higher you'll be paid.

Offers...?

A private investigator business opportunity is an interesting thing, but where can someone find a private investigator business opportunity?

It's quite simple: a private investigator business opportunity is found from one of the following, either you complete your training and start your own private investigation firm (can be expensive), you become a contractor to various lawyers or government agencies, or you go and join a PI firm that is already established. Each one will have various rewards and drawbacks. The best by far from a financial return standpoint has to be setting up your own firm.

Basically clients will come to you wanting something and you as the private investigator will tell them the offer, how much it costs and what is involved.

When considering the various styles of a private investigator business opportunity, it is important to note what type of person you are. If security is your main thing then working for someone is probably a better option then starting your own business, and visa versa, if you want to make more money and are more of a risk taker, starting your own business is the way to go.

Examples of private investigator business opportunity

The private investigation field has many variations as far as the different specialist fields are concerned. You'll find categories like: Corporate; Domestic; Insurance; Trial preparation; On-Line; Document Research and some Special Services like under covered armed escorts or bodyguards.

Every field has its own specialist so if you want to have the best result on your request, contact specialists in their fields. You might think that you have to pay more, but when you contract a specialist you're virtually guaranteed to get good results. It's like when you buy an original shirt that costs more money than an imitation of the brand - the original shirt is of superior quality than the imitation.
